The Freedom of Christ

Today we celebrate our independence as a nation. The day we broke away and formed a new nation with new possibilities, and new ideals, but most of all freedom. What a wonderful word that is, isn't it?

Freedom.

While we will celebrate this as citizens of America, I would like to also turn your attention towards the freedom of Christ. Now most speak of the freedom in Christ, but I will stress the freedom of Christ.

The freedom of Christ...

The fateful day that Jesus hung on the cross not out of obligation, fear, or spite. But out of free will. The Son of Man gave His life for us out of the joy of knowing He would gain brothers and sisters to the kingdom.

He did it out of the love shown to Him by The Father who wanted to expand His family and adopt both sons and daughters to it.

This is the freedom of Christ.

That all men and women would be united to Christ and reconciled with God.

Why? Because God chooses to.

So I pray that today as you watch fireworks fly and celebrate freedom, remember...

The freedom of Christ.

The choice of Christ...to choose you.

“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.” - Ephesians‬ ‭1:4-10‬
